The Pied Piper of Hamelin
Long ago, there was a town called Hamelin. It was a nice place, but it had a big problem: rats. They were everywhere! In houses, shops, and streets.
The rats ate their food and made people sick. Children were afraid to sleep at night because of the rats.
The mayor of Hamelin tried everything to get rid of the rats, but nothing worked. The people were angry.
One day, a strange man arrived in Hamelin. Nobody saw him enter the town. He just appeared, as if by magic. He wore colorful clothes and carried a pipe.
He said to the mayor, "I can make all the rats go away. But, you must pay me a hundred gold coins."

The mayor was excited. "Yes, yes! If you can remove all the rats, we'll pay you."
The mysterious man walked through the streets, playing his pipe. The music was magical and soon thousands of rats were following him.
The people of Hamelin watched in amazement. The Piper led the rats to the river. The rats all jumped into the river and disappeared. The town was free of rats!
Everyone was happy. They laughed and danced in the streets. But when the Piper asked for his payment, the mayor refused.
"We won't pay you so much money," the mayor said. "Go away!"
"You made a promise," the Piper said quietly but angrily. "You'll regret this." But the mayor didn't listen.

The next day was Sunday. All the adults went to church. The children stayed at home.
Suddenly, the people in the church heard music. It was the Piper again!
This time, all the children of Hamelin followed the music. They danced behind the Piper as he walked out of town.
The parents called their children's names, but the children couldn't hear. They just kept walking, smiling, as if in a dream.
The Piper led the children to a mountain. A magic door opened in the mountain. The Piper and all the children went inside. Then, the door closed.

The parents looked everywhere for their children, but the children were gone.
The people of Hamelin learned a hard lesson: always keep your promises or there'll be consequences.
Some say that one day, the children might return. But for now, Hamelin is a town with a dark secret. It waits and hopes for its lost children to come home.
The End.
