Today, we will use this incredible technology to help us learn English. So first, we will learn imperative verbs and when we use them and then we will learn this song to help us remember them.
Check out this chorus, this banging chorus for today's song:
Our Earth, is so beautiful.
Our Earth, is so beautiful.
The lyrics are, the Earth is so beautiful, little actions help it grow, little actions. So, you give the AI your lyrics and then the AI gives you a song with your lyrics. So cool!
Okay, so first - imperative verbs. For example: listen, sit down, close your eyes. These are all imperative verbs. More imperative verb examples are: switch off the light, switch off the air con, put the litter in the bin.
We use them to tell someone what to do, to give orders, or to give advice. Imperative verbs are very useful for teachers like me, very useful for parents, very useful if you need to communicate quickly and directly.
If your boss says 'come in at 7am', that's an imperative verb. If he says 'make me a cup of tea', that's an imperative verb. If he says, 'meow like a cat', that's a weird imperative verb, yet.
Also, you can add 'please' to imperative verbs to make them more polite: please pass the salt, please be ready on time, please dance for grandma, or whatever. We use the imperatives to ask for something politely: please close the door, please sit down.
As well as telling someone what to do, we can also use imperatives to offer advice. Advice: Take an umbrella, it might rain. Visit the museum while you're here. Oh, you're in Napoli. Try da pizza.
And finally, we can use imperatives when we teach or give instructions, like making a recipe: mix the flour with water, add the honey, leave it in the oven for 20 minutes, and then join us for a glass of red wine.
Most times, when you see a sign in the street, that is an imperative verb. Signs in the street: stop, go, recycle, put your trash in the bin (because all signs are telling people what to do).
To use the imperative, to use it, you simply use the infinitive of the verb, verb 1, at the start of the sentence. See? Easy! And the subject (the person you are talking to), is usually not mentioned. Next, the song:
Our Earth, is so beautiful
Okay. This A.I. song is more for kids. I made it for my kids' music channel, but we can still use it here to learn.
Okay, so the first lyrics are: Turn off the lights when you leave the room. Turn off the lights, it's easy to do. Turn off the tap while you brush your teeth. Turn off the tap, save water beneath.
Turn off the lights when you leave the room. Turn off the lights, it's easy to do. Turn off the tap while you brush your teeth. Turn off the tap, save water beneath.
Our Earth, is so beautiful
And the chorus is, the world is so beautiful. Little actions help it grow, little actions.
So, the next lyrics are: Turn off the TV when you're done. Turn off the TV, turn off the aircon. Pick up the litter, put it in the bin. Pick up the litter, don't let it win.
Turn off the TV when you're done. Turn off the TV, turn off the aircon. Pick up the litter, put it in the bin. Pick up the litter, don't let it win.
And the final lyrics are: Use your bottle again, again and again. Use your bottle again, don't buy a new one. Don't bin old clothes, give them away. Don't bin old clothes, make someone's day. Without little actions, the Earth feels pain. But if we try, it will smile again.
Use your bottle again, again and again. Use your bottle again, don't buy a new one. Don't bin old clothes, give them away. Don't bin old clothes, make someone day. Without little actions, the Earth feels pain but if we try it, it will smile again.
