Little Red Riding Hood

One day, Little Red's mother said, "Your grandmother is sick. Take this basket of food to her house in the woods. But be careful! Don't talk to strangers, and don't leave the path."

Little Red promised to be careful. She put on her red hood and walked through the dark forest.

The trees were tall and scary, with long shadows. She held the basket tightly and walked faster.

A noise behind a tree made her heart beat quickly.

Suddenly, a big, gray wolf stepped out onto the path!

Hello, little girl," said the wolf in a sweet voice. "What's your name?"

"L... Little Red."

"Where are you going?"

Little Red remembered her mother's warning about strangers. But, the wolf looked friendly. It would be rude not to answer.

"I'm going to my grandmother's house," she said. "She's sick. I'm bringing her food."

The wolf's eyes sparkled. "How kind of you! Is it far?"

It's at the end of this path, near the old oak tree," she said.

The wolf smiled, showing sharp teeth. "Well, have a nice day!" he said, and disappeared into the forest.

Little Red continued walking. She didn't know the wolf was taking a shortcut to her grandmother's house.

The wolf ran quickly. He reached the house first! He knocked on the door.

"Who is it?" called a weak voice from inside.

"It's Little Red," the wolf said, his voice high and sweet.

The grandmother opened the door.

The wolf jumped into the house and quickly ate her!

Then, he put on her nightgown and got into her bed.

Soon, Little Red arrived at the house. She knocked on the door. "Come in, dear," said a strange voice.

Little Red entered the dark room. Something wasn't right. She felt scared.

She walked to the bed and gasped. "Grandmother, what big ears you have!"

"All the better to hear you with, my dear," said the wolf.

"And what big eyes you have!"

"All the better to see you with, my dear."

Little Red's heart was racing. "And what big teeth you have!"

"All the better to eat you with!" shouted the wolf.

The wolf jumped out of bed. "Now I'll eat you!"

Little Red screamed and ran to the corner. The wolf came closer and closer.

Suddenly, there was a sound outside. Thump. Thump. Thump. "What's that noise?" said the wolf.

Thump. Thump. THUMP! The sound got louder!

CRASH! The door broke open. A big man with an axe stood there. He grabbed the wolf.

While the wolf was struggling, they heard a muffled voice, "Help me!"

The man cut open the wolf. The grandmother was inside! She was alive and well.

They took her out and filled the wolf with heavy stones. They put him outside.

The wolf woke up and went to the river to drink. He fell in and drowned. The forest was safe again.

From that day, Little Red always listened to her mother's advice - she never talked to strangers in the forest again.
