Chapter 5: The Island Come True

Neverland was quiet when Peter was away. But when he returned, everything came alive again.

Peter's gang was the Lost Boys. They were searching for Peter. Meanwhile, the pirates were looking for the Lost Boys. The native warriors were looking for the pirates, and the wild animals were hunting the natives. Everyone was running in circles!

There were six Lost Boys - Tootles, Nibs, Slightly, Curly, and the Twins. They all wore animal skins. Peter, the oldest, was their leader. (pic)

The natives moved quietly through the forest holding knives and axes. At the front was their leader, Tiger Lily, a warrior princess as brave and fierce as she was beautiful.

The pirate leader was Captain Hook. He wore a blood-red jacket, had black curly hair and cold blue eyes. His face was pale, almost like a ghost. Instead of a hand, he had a sharp hook.

The pirates spotted a Lost Boy in the forest. "Get him!" shouted Hook. The game was on!

But then, there was a chilling and familiar sound.

Tick-tock! Tick-tock!

Hook's eyes widened with fear when he heard the ticking.

Everyone on Neverland stayed away from the crocodile's ticking sound.

On Neverland was also a giant crocodile that had swallowed a clock. The crocodile was Hook's greatest fear. It had already eaten Hook's hand and wanted more of him.

Tick-tock! Tick-tock!

"Back to the ship!" Hook shouted, and the pirates disappeared.

Meanwhile, the Lost Boys hunted in the forest near their secret hideout. It was difficult to see because it was getting dark.

Suddenly, they heard a bird crying above them. The bird cried, "Poor Wendy."

"Look!" shouted Curly. "It's a Wendy bird!"

Then, Tinkerbell appeared, flying around the Wendy bird, yelling and pointing at it.

"What's Tink saying?" the boys asked.

"She's saying, Peter wants you to shoot the Wendy bird," Curly said.

So, Tootles took out his bow and arrow. He aimed, shot, and hit the Wendy bird. She fell to the ground with an arrow in her chest.

Chapter 6: The Little House

Tootles stood over Wendy's body. "I shot the Wendy bird! Peter will be pleased." But, the other boys exchanged worried glances. The forest grew darker and more silent.

"This is not a bird," Slightly said. He poked her with his foot. "It looks like a lady."

"A lady?" Tootles's voice trembled.

"We killed her," Nibs whispered.

Curly rolled around on the floor, crying, "Peter wanted her to look after us, and now she's dead!"

Tootles' face turned pale.

Then, they heard Peter's crow. "Peter's back!"

The boys hid Wendy's body in a bush. They were all terrified because they knew the punishment for killing their own.

Peter landed, "Where is the mother I brought you?"

No one made a sound.

"She flew here, but..." said Nibs.

Tootles stepped forward. "Peter, I will show her to you." Tootles moved the bush, showing Wendy's body to Peter.

Peter was stunned. "Whose arrow was it? he asked.

"Mine, Peter." said Tootles. Tootles opened his shirt, bearing his chest. "Strike, Peter."

Peter took out his sword and raised it in the air. But, Peter couldn't do it.

Then, Wendy's arm moved.

"Look! She's alive, Peter! She's alive!" Cried out Nibs.

Peter knelt beside Wendy. "My kiss saved her! The arrow hit my kiss, not her heart."

The arrow was lodged into the button Peter had given her. A smile spread across his face.

Wendy opened her eyes and whispered, "Peter, I thought I'd never see you again."

Tinkerbell stood on a branch and watched them both. She covered her tiny face with her tiny hands and cried.

"Tink is crying because her plan failed and Wendy is alive," Curly said.

Peter's smile disappeared. "Tinkerbell. I am not your friend anymore. Go away forever!"

Tinkerbell flew around Peter's face, pleading for forgiveness. Her shimmering tear fell onto Peter's nose.

"Well, not forever, but for one whole week," Peter said.

The sunlight was now completely gone. Now, they heard wolves, and twigs snapping.

"What should we do now?" the boys asked. "We can't leave her here, alone. She might die."

"Let's build a house around her to keep her safe," said Peter.

Quickly, the boys collected leaves and branches and put them around Wendy. John and Michael helped too, even though they were very sleepy. They all sang cheerfully as they built the house.

"Gathering branches and leaves so green,
With John and Michael, tired they seem.
We sing this song, our spirits bright,
To keep Wendy safe through the night."

When they finished, the house looked wonderful, complete with a door, windows, and even a chimney. Peter knocked on the door.

Wendy opened the door from the inside, to see all the Lost Boys standing in front of her. "For you," Slightly said, "We built this house."

All together, the boys knelt down. "Please be our mother, Wendy!"

Wendy smiled, and her heart swelled with love for them. "I am only a little girl, but I will try my best," she said. "Now, time for bed, you naughty children!"

That night, Wendy tucked the boys into bed. She told them a bedtime story. She slept in her little house next to the boys' house.

Peter stood guard outside with his sword. The two houses were safe under the stars, with Peter watching over them.
